seo in plain english.
seo has a reputation problem because an industry got built on making it sound complicated. here's the honest version.
what google actually wants
google wants to answer its user's question with the best page. that's the entire game. every "ranking factor" is just google asking: is this page fast? is it clear? does it say what the searcher needs? do other sites treat it like it's real?
what your site needs (and gets, standard)
speed. if your page takes five seconds to load, google shows someone else's. every site i ship scores fast on google's own test — not because of tricks, because it's built right.
structure. google reads your site like a document. clear titles, clean headings, a sitemap that lists every page, structured data that says "this is a restaurant, here are the hours." machines shouldn't have to guess.
real words. a page that says "welcome to our website" ranks for nothing. a page that says "wood-fired pizza in cookeville, open till 11" ranks for exactly that. i write the words with you.
the new part nobody's doing yet: ai visibility
when someone asks chatgpt "who builds fences in baton rouge," the models pull from the same structured data google reads — plus how clearly your pages state what you do and where. sites built with clean structure get named. sites built as a pile of pretty pictures don't. every site i ship includes this. most agencies haven't caught up yet.
what you don't need
a $500/month "seo retainer" for a five-page local business site. after launch, seo is mostly: keep the information true, add a page when you add a service, collect reviews. i show you how to do all three in the admin.
